Feb. 16, 2010 * Museum House * HISTORY OF PICATINNY ARSENAL (THE EARLY YEARS) * 7:30 pm Picatinny historian Dr. Patrick Owens reviews the early history of Picatinny Arsenal. Dr. Owens is the Army Historian for Picatinny Aresnal for the past 22-years. He earned his PhD in history from Notre Dame University. He will discuss the earliest years of Picatinny from 1880 up to just before World War 1. Highlights of the program will include the initial search for a depot site; why the Army chose Morris County; the early construction of the Army's first major explosive factory; and Picatinny's early achievements. A great lecture aided with photographs and slides. * No charge - refreshments served.
Mar. 16, 2010 * Museum House * PHOTO COLLECTION FROM MARTY KANE * 7:30 PM Martin Kane, President of the Lake Hopatcong Historical Society and author of several books on Lake Hopatcong, has donated to the Dover Area Historical Society several photographs from his personal collection of the Dover area. Stan has entered all the pictures into a PowerPoint slide presentation. Some photographs of Dover rarely ever seen in public. *No Charge for this program - Refreshment served.

Hawaain Steel Guitar Festival in memory of Joseph Kekuku inventor of the Steel Guitar and buried in the Orchard Street Cemetery.
